OUR STORY: FROM THE GRAPPLING CLUB TO 10TH PLANET BRISBANE
In 2015, Jack, Bec and Devon set out on their No-Gi jiujitsu journey together under the guidance of coaches Adam Gray (10th Planet Purple Belt) and Chris Foster (Proficient wrestler and submission grappler) at The Grappling Club. Adam and Chris had worked for years to open The Grappling Club - with their dream being to eventually affiliate as a 10th Planet gym and open 10th Planet Brisbane.
Tragedy struck in 2017 when Adam Gray passed away unexpectedly. Jack, Bec and Devon were determined to continue training at the gym they loved and had built a strong community within. Jack and Devon stepped into coaching roles, while Bec took on administration and social media tasks.
In 2018, all the hard work and dedication paid off when they officially affiliated with 10th Planet, making 10th Planet Brisbane the first official 10th Planet gym in Queensland.
The continuation of The Grappling Club - now 10th Planet Brisbane - was built on a deep friendship between three people who loved the sport, cherished their club, and valued their small, tight-knit community. Over the years the club has grown alongside their evolving goals and individual aspirations. What started as a shared vision has expanded into a thriving, dynamic gym where all are encouraged to grow, learn and achieve.
Together, Jack, Bec and Devon share a commitment to growing the Jiujitsu community in Brisbane, always striving for improvement, both on the mats and in life. Their collective vision for 10th Planet Brisbane is one of growth, learning and camaraderie, ensuring that all who walk through the doors feel welcome and supported in their Jiujitsu journey.
